Queens of Reggae exhibition in National Gallery of Jamaica
Thanks to VP Records and Miss Pat, co-founder I had the opportunity to showcase nine posters of my “Queens of Reggae” series as part of the 8th International Reggae Poster exhibition and the posters were auctioned at the National Gallery of Jamaica in Kingston to support Alpha Institute.
The Nadine Sutherland poster had the highest bid of the evening, JMD$30,000, and even more that my Queens of Reggae raised JMD$91,000 in support of the Alpha Institute (former Alpha Boys’ School).
I would like to thank everyone who participated in this auction to make it so, our patrons, the National Gallery of Jamaica, the NGJ staff, the International Reggae Poster Contest, the Alpha Institute (Alpha Boys School) and our exhibition sponsors; The Ministry of Culture Gender Entertainment and Sport, VP Records, Paperboy JA, Spanish Court Hotel.
The remaining posters will be available for purchase at the National Gallery of Jamaica until July 30, 2023.
Another amazing happening at the exhibition was the revelation of the portrait I designed for the Hon. Ministry Olivia “Bubsy” Grange by Mr. Denzil Thorpe, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sports. The poster was a gift of gratitude for the Ministry’s support and sponsorship to bring the 29th Art of Reggae Exhibition in Jamaica.
